Prejudice and Obesity - Watch This Video!

I'm not sure who this guy is, but he seems to be popular on Youtube.
Interesting comment at the 5 minute mark (approximately) how only 18% of doctors will talk to their patients about obesity/weightloss.

A really great message overall about prejudice and obesity. Me likey.

  4. How true ,My Drs have never brought up my weight to me-I have always mentioned it first in any discussions-Are they afraid of offending? Believe me,being a Theatre nurse-they have no compunction talking about it while you're asleep!!!(how helpful is that??!!

  5. I was in ICU for 3 blood clots in my lungs, and not one doctor told me that obesity was the main risk factor I was exhibiting. A year later my bariatric surgeon told me, and I was floored. Why can't doctors talk to their patients about a treatable disease?

  6. It makes me feel privileged that I have a great tool to get out of this constant misery of self-loath and harassment. (Had my band 18 days ago)
I could totally relate to the parts about discrimination starting in childhood - my worst "fat girl" moments are from age 10-14... And my dad constantly telling me "not to eat that much" - in front of the whole family when I was like 7...
I think those of us who has managed or is on the way to get out of the misery of being obese, we should make extra efforts to tackle this problem.

By the way, dear blog owner: I've read through your whole blog from the very beginning just before my operation. It is very motivating, uplifting and full of food for thought - thank you for making my journey easier.
